What Is Restorative Dentistry?

Restorative dentistry refers to all the procedures designed to repair and restore your smile. Procedures can include everything from fillings to crowns, bridges, and even implants, depending on your oral health issues and what is best for your smile.

What to Expect During Your Initial Appointment

When you book an appointment at Smile Wellness Co. for restorative care, the first thing we need to do is perform an oral health exam to compose a treatment plan that fits your needs and goals. By collaborating care, we can help you make the best decisions to restore the health of your smile safely and effectively. Some of the diagnostic records at your initial appointment may include: digital x-rays, digital Itero wellness scan, oral cancer screening, material sensitivity discussion, airway screening, health history evaluation.

Common restorative care questions

What is biological restorative dentistry?

Biological (also known as "holistic" or "functional") restorative care means taking into account the entire person and their health when trying to improve their oral health. At Smile Wellness Co., we do not just focus on treating the dental health issues of our patients, but also on the mouth-body connection. If restorations are unavoidable, we strive for conservative treatment and use specifically chosen materials to minimize any other risks on other layers of your health. Biological dentistry may also include additional therapies such as ozone or remineralization protocols when indicated.

Do you use mercury fillings?

No. Our office is mercury free and mercury safe. What this means is we use metal-free, tooth-colored  materials such as resin composites or ceramics. If mercury fillings are removed, we choose to follow the IAOMT Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique also known as the "SMART" protocol.

I’m not sure if I need restorative care. What should I do?

Restorative care involves restoring a broken or decayed tooth with fillings, addressing missing teeth, or even changing the appearance of your teeth and bite structures through veneers or crowns. If you don’t know whether these treatments are right for you, you can book an appointment and we will help you make the best decisions for your oral health.
